Fun Stuff From Our Friends...

I normally don't do this kind of thing, but this was too cool to pass up. I was getting my daily fill of Daily Candy (http://www.dailycandy.com/) and I came across this video by Ban.do. This video shows you how to tie a silk scarf three different ways. For those of you that know me and know me well I am a HUGE fan of turbans and scarves. Part of the reason is I don't like to comb my hair and the second reason is I think they look REALLY cool and I'm ALL about cool. :)

Take a look, watch the video and give it a whirl if and when you get a chance.

Happy scarf tying, lovies!

See ya at the TOP!

Ciao!

Connect The Dots...La La La...Connect The Dots...La La La

Marc Jacobs
 Hello Lovies!

Polka dots are BACK and they're BACK with a VENGEANCE and begging for you to wear them!
Before I get into how you should wear your polka dot printed threads let me give you a little history on the fashion staple.

Picture this, it was Italy...(just kidding, I was having a Golden Girls Moment) Seriously the name, POLKA DOTS, originated from the twirly, whirly movements of the 1800's dance craze, the Polka. Because the Polka was such a hit across the U.S. major manufacturers cashed in on the fad and started manufacturing any and everything and attaching the name 'polka' to it. While there were many items with the word 'polka' attached to it (i.e. polka-hats and polka jackets) most disappeared with the fad of the actual polka dance and ONLY the polka dot fabric remained popular then and now.

Style Fact:  Some people associate polka dots with Venezuelan fashion designer Carolina Herrera, who used polka dots on most of her dresses during the late 80s and early 90s, as well as on the boxes of perfume Carolina Herrera, Herrera For Men, Aquaflore and Flore.

So like I mentioned before, polka dots are back and BEGGING you to rock them out. Not sure how to wear polka dots? Don't fret...I'm here to help and so are some of my designer friends in my head. Marc Jacobs and Lanvin have brought this retro look back with chic frocks and other amazingly beautiful pieces.

Can't afford Lanvin or Jacob's polka dot looks? Don't be ashamed, there are some economically friendly and equally as chic pieces available out there for us FRUGALISTAS! :)

Looking for ways to rock the dot? Try some of these tips below.
  • Pair your polka dots with stripes
  • Pair your polka dots with florals
  • Pair your polka dots with solids
  • Pair your polka dots jeans, a fun skirt or even leggings
  • Grab some polka dot socks
  • Polka dot clutch, shoes...whatever you like
There really isn't a right or wrong way to rock out polka dots...all that I ask is you have a great time expressing yourself in this retro trend!

Good luck, Lovies! See ya at the TOP!

Ciao!

Building The Foundation...

Hello Lovies! As a lover of all things fashion and beauty, one of my biggest peeves is mismatched foundation. There isn't a day that goes by that I see someone that has fallen victim to mismatched foundation. You can go to the make-up counter at your local mall or enlist the help of a make-up artist to help you find the perfect foundation, but when time is of the essence and you have no time to enlist the pros you can use these tips to find your own foundation. Honestly, I prefer matching myself because sometimes the 'pros' aren't really PROS and end up putting you in a shade that's not even CLOSE to your natural skin tone. When it comes to foundation matching my motto is, the more you know the better you look. Actually, that kinda goes with everything. So this is your lesson for the day...The MORE you KNOW, the BETTER you LOOK! Good info if I don't mind saying so myself (toot, toot...).

So yeah, back to the subject at hand...finding the perfect foundation. Your BEST make-up foundation is the one that matches your skin perfectly. It should blend so well that you don't even look like you're wearing make-up. When you know the right tips and tricks to selecting the right foundation product and applying it, your entire complexion can have a subtle healthy glow. Make-up artists know how to mix custom foundations, so now it's your turn to learn.

First things first, ALWAYS match foundation in natural outdoor light. Then select the color that's closest to your skin tone.

After you've done the cheek swipe, swipe the same colors on your neck. Your BEST make-up foundation needs to closely match the color of your neck if you want it to look natural.
TIP: Natural make-up is a MUST at all times.

Lastly, determine which color of the three closely matches both your face and neck. Choose either the closest match or the darker one that matches your neck. This will be your base foundation and one you can customize if necessary.
TIP: Try a foundation with two colors in it. Mix together for a more natural look.

Good Luck, Lovies...Happy Mixing!

See ya at the TOP!

Rules Of The Rainbow...

Color blocking was a hot trend of the summer and lucky for all of us fashionistas, it's followed us into the fall. If you didn't understand the rules of blocking during the summer months, give it a whirl again and try it for the Fall season by following these quick and easy tips.

Rule of the Rainbow #1:
When color blocking, limit yourself to TWO prominent colors. Too many colors at one time may not be as easy on the eyes as you think.

Rule of the Rainbow #2:
Mix colors in the same family. Mixing colors of the same family gives a more flowing look. I'm not discouraging the mixing of clashing hues, but it can appear agressive if you know what I mean.

Rule of the Rainbow #3:
Wearing a neutral or monochromatic fit? Pump it up with color by wearing a fun shoe in a bright color or daring print.

Rule of the Rainbow #4:
Pastels are just for spring and summer anymore. Bring your pastels into fall and winter. Instead of sheer fabrics look for chunky sweaters in pastel colors and then block your heart away.

Rule of the Rainbow #5:
The rules of the rainbow aren't reserved for your wardrobe only! Your hair, make-up, and nails are also included.

If you're feeling a little funky, change your hair color. I don't recommend doing this at home, but you can if you're brave. If you're not brave, take a trip to your local salon and ask your stylist which color or colors will look best for you.

Add a pop of color here and there to your make-up regimen. Try colors like a sexy red, tantalizing tangerine or if you're really daring try a purple lip.

Don't forget your nails...this season pretty much any color goes (except for neons...they're a little too summery for the fall).

Last thing you can POP is your shoes! Any fantastically, fabulous, colored shoe will work!

Make it work, lovies! Color blocking...it's for EVERYBODY!

Good luck, Lovies! See ya at the TOP!
xoxo

Make-Up Quickie...

Good Morning and Happy Monday (groan...)! I just woke up and remembered I forgot to mention a new discovery I made over the weekend. I shared the information on Twitter, but I forgot to share it with you guys. #RUDE

Anyway, I have a new 'fix' for unruly brows. What is it you ask? It's beeswax. Beeswax is generally used to loc hair, but now I'm using it to tame my wild and crazy brows and you can too. It really works, you guys should give it a try. It's not that expensive (no more than 5 or 6 dollars at most) and can be found at your local beauty supply store. Below is a photo of the beeswax I use. Like I said, it's very inexpensive and in top of that  it  smells WONDERFUL!

Happy Monday, Lovies...make it a good one!

No Hair, Don't Care...

Note: This is a repost. The initial post said I was blogging on a Sunday...it was really Saturday. I guess it was a little too early for me to be up and thinking...LOL. Have a good one, Lovies! xoxo

Good Morning Lovies! It's about 6:25 a.m. this fine Saturday morning. Don't ask why I'm up...I just am, don't judge me. So yeah, I'm up and totally having a Rev Run blogging morning except I'm not in the bathtub, I'm in the bed AND I'm using an Android touch screenphone that is giving me hell, not a Blackberry.

Anyway, today is going to be quite an exciting day. As usual I have nineteen thousand things to do. I  have to cover Archaic Boutique's Grand Opening event for the Examiner.com (SN: for those of you that live in Wichita I will give you the deets in a later post), attend a baby bday party, attend a baby shower and some other stuff that I can't remember but I know I have to do it.

With all the activities I have planned for the day it's a good thing I have this FABULOUS new haircut created just for me by Ashlee McClaurin at Exclusive Hair Salon (right at Harry and Rock). This haircut is perfect for a fashionista on the go. All I have to do is make sure the sides are laid to rest and run my fingers through the top and I'm G-O-O-D!

I am OWNING this new look. Bye Bye Booty Length Locks and HELLO to the world of Short Hair, Don't Care!

Ciao and See Ya At The TOP, Lovies!
xoxo

PS: I apologize for any neck pain you incur do to the orientation of the photos. This Smartphone thinks it's smarter than me! *in my Evelyn from Basketball Wives voice* 'ummm no, boo boo...you are not smarter than me!'

HAUTE Colors Of Fall...

The summer season encouraged all of us to wear bright, flashy neon hues on our nails. Some of us followed the trend and rocked out brightly colored nails in the office, in the street and wherever our FABULOUS lives took us. Now that the summer has come and gone it's time to trade in those HOT summer colors and get into the cool, breezy, crisp colors for the fall. This Fall fashionistas all over the world, from the catwalk to the sidewalk will be rockin cool hues such as metallic olives, purples, blues, plums and oranges. Check the Do's and Don'ts of the season.

Olive:

DO: Metallic olive colors are ALL THE RAGE right now. If you've kept up with NYFW 2011, this color was ALL over the runway. If you're going to wear this hue, make sure you pick a hue with a few flecks of sparkle and you'll be good to go.

DON'T: Bring the lime green hues of the summer into the fall season. Lime green or any neon hue for that matter is NOT welcome into the Fall season...leave it in the Summer...where it belongs. :)

Blues/Purples:

DO: These fabulous hues look great with any skintone and look uber cool and chic.

DON'T: Matte browns were on the list of hot colors for the Fall season forecast, but much like the weather outside the forecast has changed. This season NUDES/NEUTRALS = BLAH!!! Get funky and add some blue and purple hues to your life.

Plums/Oranges:

DO: Plums and oranges are a GOOD look for this season. Try a metallic pumpkin orange or a plum color with a few sparkles and you'll be good to go.

DON'T: ABSOLUTELY NO NEONS!

Hope these Fall color tips help you out this season!

Ciao Bellas!

This Is A Test...

Good Morning Lovies!

I just got the Blogger app for my phone. I'm not sure how well this is going to work out. Hopefully, it works out well and I can jot down the things I see on the streets while I'm traveling across the country, across town or down the street.

I will warn that I'm not that great with this touchscreen thing, so forgive me if there are errors...I'm not perfect...;)

I should probably start getting dressed for work since I'm on the road for business travel. I will definitely be rocking the five minute face today! You lovely fashionistas have a great day and let me know what you think abt the use of the phone app.

Ciao!

First Lady Of Fashion: Michelle Obama

I'm LONNNNGGG overdue for a post about our FABULOUS First Lady of Fashion. Eversince she hit the scene, the FLOTUS (First Lady of The United States) has had the internet going NUTS! Women of all races, shapes, and sizes rush to the internet to see what she's wearing now, what she's going to wear next, where they can get it and how they can wear it as FABULOUSLY as she did. In my opinion, Mrs. Obama's style has surpassed that of Jackie O. (don't get me wrong, Jackie O. was a fierce fashionista too) and she is very deserving of wearing the First Lady of Fashion crown. Mrs. Obama's ability to mix off the rack with high end makes her relatable to fashionistas of ALL income levels and that, my fashionistas, is why we LOVE her!

Whether she's hittin The Dougie with school kids, chillin with the fam or rubbing elbows with the Queen her fashion game is what?! ON POINT! FLOTUS, Michelle Obama, gets the official Pearlie's Fashion Passion Seal of Approval and LIFETIME SWAG PASS! Mrs. Obama, Pearlie's Fashion Passion LOVES you and your style!

Enjoy the photos of our FABULOUSLY, FIERCE FIRST LADY!

The Queen and the First Lady

D.I.Y Lashes...

Everyone is wearing them! From Kim K and Co, Beyonce and even the FOTUS (First Lady of The United States) Michelle Obama. What're they wearing?! LASHES?!?! Should you wear em? HELL YEAH! When lashes are done RIGHT, they can be AMAZINGLY flattering and just the oomph! you need to complete your day or night look. The key to good lashes is picking a style that does NOT look fake.

Below are five easy steps for you to follow so you can rock out GLAMOUROUS faux lashes...
  1.  Flatten your natural lashes by curling them in REVERSE. To get the REVERSE curl effect, turn the padded side of the eyelash curler UP.
  2. Trim false lashes to fit the shape of your eye. DO NOT place lash strip near the inner corner of your eye. That are of the eye is full of mucous membranes that are moist and will prevent the lash adhesive from drying.
  3. FLEX or BEND the lash strip to make them easier to manipulate. Take tweezers or any clean object with a fine tip and dip into lash adhesive and line the eyelash strip. Let the adhesive dry for 10 to 15 seconds so it's kinda 'tacky'.
  4. Looking down at the mirror with eye half open, position the strip close to your lashline.
  5. With the flat end of the tweezers gently tap the strip against your lashline from one end to the other.
  6. POW! You're FABULOUS lashes are C-O-M-P-L-E-T-E!
If you try these steps, take a pic and let me see your work! I might post you on the blog!

Ciao Bellas!

Tamara Bowens, Ever Heard of Her?

Up until a few days ago I had never heard of  the fabulously, fierce handbag designer Tamara Bowens (I guess I've been in a dungeon of sorts...IDK...Good news is, I'M OUT)! But in the spirit of NYFW and FNO, my dear friend Elizabeth Okoro sent me a link that provided a peek into the collection and boy was I blown AWAY!

Tamara Bowens, the creative genius behind BowensBergeron design house based in Atlanta, Georgia is taking the handbag game by storm. Bowen's designs incorporate exotic mixes of wood such as English Sycamore and African Zebrawood. The first product line, The Lifestyle Collection features beautiful clutches that range from $995.00 to $2100.00 and beyond. I will say I won't have any pieces from the inaugural collection (I splurged on a couple Louis' earlier this year...sue me?!), but I will COP (that means purchase) a clutch in the next collection (a sista's gotta save some money).

In the mean time, you all can gasp, swoon and catch the vapors over Bowen's beautiful designs and if you have some extra money COP a clutch or two (ONLY if you're really ballin, though)! Also, don't forget to be on the look out for Bowen's 2012 collection which will include men's pieces including briefcases, manbags, and accessories

Ciao Bellas!

*BowenBergeron Collection can be purchased at Saks Fifth Avenue*
