Define Your Brows...

Do you tweeze your brows on your own or have them professionally waxed, threaded, or if you dare try electrolysis for permanent hair removal. If you're in the Wichita area, Kathy at Nails and Beyond (235 and West Central, across from the QT) does FABULOUS brows, the salon atmosphere is peaceful and serene and the prices for ALL services are very reasonable. Check it out!

No matter what grooming service you prefer shaping your brows with a little make-up is essential. Below are tips and tricks from yours truly to creating and maintaining the PERFECT brow.

The first step in creating your brow is to determine your skin type. If you have normal to dry skin you can use an eyebrow pencil. If you have oily skin you can use powders or oil free brow liners.  If you're like me and have oily skin you can get away with using both a pencil and powder.

Once you've decided which product to use; pencil, powder, or both choose a color. When selecting a color, it's best to choose a color that is as close to your natural hair color as possible.

After you've selected your pencil or powder color you're ready to start creating your perfect brow. Start your brow by outlining your brow with concealer. As a beginner, when carrying out this step it is safe to follow your natural brow shape. As you get better, you can start getting fancy and creating all kinds of brow shapes that are flattering to your face.

Once you've outlined your brow, take the eyebrow pencil and make short, quick strokes on the upper portion of your brow. You can define the 'arch point' in your brows with the pencil.

When the upper portion of your brow has been defined with the pencil, take your angle brush and brow powder to fill in your brow and make sure the powder blends with the eyebrow pencil brush strokes you made earlier.

Brush your brows with eyebrow brush to better blend the pencil and powder. Once the brow powder and pencil are 100% blended take a small foundation brush and blend the concealer on top and bottom portion of brow to display your perfectly created brow.

Lastly, apply foundation and powder as normal and make sure you do not mess up your perfectly sculpted brow.

SN: If you choose to try these steps to create the perfect brow let me know and post pics. Sorry I didn't have step by step photos to post for better visual aids...I'm in Houston visiting my family and don't have my computer. When I get back to Kansas, I will post step by step photos.

Double Denim: DO or DON'T?

This whole double denim thing is kind of taking the world of fashionistas by storm. I've been aware of this trend for quite some time and while I have yet to try it myself I've seen it on some of my celebrity friends (they're my friends in my head...don't judge) and it's kind of grown on me. The hard part with this trend is deciding how YOU are going to rock it and make it your own. I'm headed out of town this weekend (H-TOWN, baby!), so I think I'll rock this look in the airport. I'll post pictures of my Double Denim look some time next week. In the mean time, if you're in the mood, try this look for yourself. If you do, take pics and post them on the FB page..I'd love to see how you diva fashionistas rock this look. If you post to the FB page, I just might have a lil sumthin sumthin for the first poster.

BUT...before you try this look and post the pics, check out the style tips below to help you get your look together!

Lighten up: Pair your denim with some white jeans for an easy, breezy look (see Ashley Tisdale).
Think black and blue: Black and blue isn't just the color of bruises. In a rush, pair your denim with a white (fitted or loose), a denim jacket, and black skinny jeans a la Kourtney Kardashian.

Add a pop of COLOR: If you choose to wear ALL denim, use a pop of color to break up the monotony of your look. Add a colorful clutch or handbag or even a scarf. (see Katie Holmes).

Stick to similar washes: Similar washes make the look. Pair dark grey jeans with a blue denim shirt. The 'murky' colors create a grungy, but hip look (see Sienna Miller).

Mix high-contrast pieces: When in doubt, play it safe, but chic by pairing a light wash top with a dark wash bottom. This creates a crisp and clean look that's breakfast, lunch or throw on some heels for a dinner look (see Reese Witherspoon).

Pick a pattern: Break the rules and throw in some patterns a la Diane Kruger. Combine stripes, florals, pops of color, blazers...whatever you like to create the eclectically chic look.

I WISH...

So once again, StylePantry.com has me drooling again...first it was the sneak peek photos of Versace for H&M (pics coming soon) and now it's the Cavalli campaign.

If I was just a little bit smaller, skipped a few cupcakes and cocktail here and there I MIGHT, JUST MIGHT be able to squeeze my rump into a few of these pieces. Until then, I'll stick with collecting designer handbags because handbags DO NOT discriminate!

Have a great day beauties and enjoy these FABULOUS fashion pieces.
