Like Mother, Like Daughter...

Hey Lovies!

I bet y'all thought this post was going to be about me and my mama...wrong?! Although I could write a post about my awesome mama, Dr. Dianne Reed, I chose to write about another mother/daughter duo.

Little Dannielynn (whatever her last name is) is following in her mama, Anna Nicole Smith's, foot steps and has landed a gig with Guess. Guess, the label that gave her mama her claim to fame (yeah, yeah, Playboy hooked her up first, but I'd like to give Guess credit for allowing us to love the fully clothed Anna Nicole).

Little Dannielynn is killing it in her ad for the label, just like her mama used to do. I guess the saying is true, 'the apple don't fall too far from the tree.' Check out lil Dannielynn in her Guess ad.

Oh The Possibilities...

Happy Monday lovies! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and a safe Black Friday if you dared to venture out into the wild, wild world of Black Friday shopping *cringe*.

I must say I had a fantastic Thanksgiving! I rolled solo and spent the day in my silk pajamas, sipping champagne and watching movies all day long. I couldn't have asked for a better day. I really needed the rest and trust me, I GOT IT!

As we move into the holiday season, the season of giving, one of my favorite stores and an absolutely fabulous design house may be joining forces to bring us the ultimate collection at an affordable price. Who could it be you ask? None other than H&M and Givenchy?!?!?! While the partnership has not been confirmed, there is GREAT speculation that late 2013, the two powerhouses could join forces on the ultimate collabo.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm pretty excited! What're your thoughts? Do you think it'll happen? Let me know! I personally think it will happen, because over the past year H&M has brought some EXCELLENT designers to the racks for us regular people. I'm anxious about this collaboration!

What Goes With What?

Hey Lovies!

A while back a follower asked me a question about what colors go with each  other this season. She was in a style rut and needed a little help from  yours truly. The follower had orange pants, but didn't know what color top to pair with the fabulous pants, other than black. Of course I gave her some great suggestions...some wild and some mild. After I gave my suggestions, I thought a little more about her question and figured she probably wasn't the only one having struggles when it came to deciding what colors complemented each other best.

I could make a long list of colors that complement eachother this season, but I thought it'd be much easier if I gave all of you an illustration. DIY Skin Miracle Worker: Nutmeg and Honey Mask

Hey Lovies! As y'all all know, I am the DIY Queen! I am ALWAYS trying to make something; whether it's coasters, a wreath, a cardigan, a tutu, or some baking/cooking concoction I'm just ALWAYS up to something. With that being said, it should be no surprise to any of you that I have come up with a skin soother/acne scar reducer. Now I will say that I did not come up with this one on my own, I have actually been searching high and low for a natural product to help me with some skin discoloration on my jawline. After much Googling, I found something I think might work and lucky for all of us we probably have a lot of the ingredients right in our kitchen. What's the miracle concoction you may ask? Well, it's nutmeg and honey! Yes, I said nutmeg and honey! These two products mixed together are a powerful combination! Honey and nutmeg both have curative properties that help reduce swelling, infection and assist with the regeneration of skin. In layman's terms, what that means for all of us is we can have smoother, less obvious acne marks at a fraction of the cost we'd normally pay for treatments at the spa.

Below I have provided the science behind each ingredient and the recipe for making the mask:

Honey:

Honey is widely demonstrated to have antibacterial properties, with some being sold as therapeutic agents (Journal of Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing).

Heals skin from wounds.

When applied to acne spots, honey may stop swelling by killing infection.

Heals scars more quickly and smoothly.

Nutmeg:

Journal of Natural Products states that mace, a substance found in nutmeg "exhibits strong antifungal and antibacterial activities."

Like honey, nutmeg can reduce infection and swelling around clogged pores, resulting in smaller spots and smoother scars.

The Recipe:

Combine 1 tablespoon ground nutmeg and 1 tablespoon of honey. Gently apply the concoction to the entire face or the affected area. Whatever you do, do not rub the concoction into skin as it could cause irritation. Leave the concoction on your skin for at least thirty minutes and then rinse with warm water. After rinsing, apply moisturizer as normal.

Extras: To increase the potency, you may add a little cinnamon to the mixture. The cinnamon adds to the astringent and antifungal effect, while increasing the exfoliation potential.

I'm sure I'm pretty late with this tidbit of fashion information, but who cares...you know my motto is better late than never! So with that being said, the latest designer collabo is with Versace and music recording artist M.I.A (weird collabo in my opinion, because no one has really heard much from her since her camera flip off at the Superbowl...but what do I know, I'm just a blogger trying to keep you up on what's going on in the world of fashion).

Anyway, these two have collaborated on some threads and I guess it should be hot if you're into the gaudy, over-the-top look. Take a peek at the pic below and let me know what you think...Just in case you were wondering, I'm not sure exactly what I think...maybe it will grow on me...who knows.

Narciso Rodriguez for Kohl's...

Hey Lovies!

I'm about 21, maybe more, days late on this latest fashion news, but y'all know the deal...better late than never! Anyway though *pops lips* ( I have no idea why I did that, I guess  I just felt like popping my lips), renowned American designer Narciso Rodriguez's Istanbul Collection debuted at Kohl's stores across the country earlier this month. I haven't had an opportunity to check it out, but I may get a chance to this weekend (no promises, I kinda plan on being REALLY lazy this weekend). If I get a chance to check it out in person, I will let y'all know what I think.
