Happy Halloween...

Hello Lovies and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I'm not really a big Halloween buff, but this year I did a little more Halloween-ing than I normally do. I attend two costume parties. One party I dressed as an 80's popstar and for whatever reason when I went out to a lounge wih my friends afterwards everyone thought that my costume was my outfit! I was like, this is a COSTUME, not my outfit! WHATEVER. The second party I attended I dressed as a rock concert groupie...tattoos, missing teeth and an AC/DC t-shirt with cut off shorts. I was truly dressed the part and I had a blast!

The other Halloween-ish experience I had occurred a few weeks ago when I was asked to do the make-up for a local artist, F.A. Mr. Bilingual, music video shoot. The concept for the video was AWESOME and I had a blast creating the looks for everyone in the video. Last night I received an email from Mr. Bilingual himself that had the finished product attached. I had an opportunity to watch the video and I must say I was truly AMAZED! Below, I've provided the link to the video. Click it, watch it and enjoy the music created by Mr. Bilingual and the make-up looks created by yours truly!

Have a great day lovies and be safe if you're hitting the trick or treat trail!

See ya at the TOP!

Ciao!

I'm A Barbie Girl...Well, Not Really But I LOVE Her Make-Up

Hey Lovies! So yeah, I'm not a Barbie Girl, but I LOVE her make-up and in a perfect world I might have her life...LOL! Enjoy the tutorial below and let me know how it turns out!

See ya at the TOP, lovies!

Ciao!

Tools:
• Eyes: nude eyeshadow, brown-beige shader shadow, highlighter, eyeliner, glitter
• Lips: bright pink lipgloss
• Face: foundation/eyeshadow

Start out with primer all over the lid to create a crease-free and smooth base for the eyeshadow. Sweep nude shadow across the lid all the way to the brow, define crease with a brown eyeshadow. Define brow bone with your favorite highlighter, right under the arch. Apply 2 layers of mascara to top and bottom lashes. Draw a winged eyeliner thickly, as close to the lashes as possible.

Eyelashes
Apply glue, let dry for about 30 seconds and stick on the lashes on top of the liner. Glue individual lashes slightly below your natural bottom lash line.
Dab on some lotion or creme shadow onto the center of the lid. Dampen a large, dense brush and apply glitter over the lid. Do not go over the crease line with glitter. Clean up with Scotch tape.

Face:
Foundation Primer is a great way to start, it smooths and hydrates the skin and preps it for foundation. Apply foundation with a foundation brush or sponge. Use a concealer under the eyes to cover up any dark spots, and use it anywhere else you need to conceal spots or redness. Apply hot pink blush to the cheeks, blending up towards the temples.

Eyebrows:
Ah, who doesn’t love a well-groomed, perfect brow! Women use eyeshadow, pencils, stencils, and every trick in the book to achieve it. If you are not a brow pro, I recommend getting it done by a professional and then plucking the little hairs in between sessions. Aim for a higher arch and make sure your brows aren’t spaced too far apart. Fill in with an angled brow brush using eyeshadow or pencil. Right now, I absolutely love Raquel Reed‘s eyebrows.

Lips:
You can use a bright pink gloss Voila!

Best Skirts For Your Body Type...

Alright, Summer is over, Fall is here, but slowly disappearing depending on where you live and Winter will be here in a matter of seconds. Just because the season is changing, it doesn't mean that have you have to stop wearing skirts. Skirts can be worn year 'round...the most important thing when wearing a skirt is to wear a skirt that is flattering to YOUR unique body type.

Below are tips on what skirts look best for your body type. So go ahead, read the post...you'll be glad you did.

Happy skirting, lovies!

See ya at the TOP!

Ciao!
xoxo

Problem:
The Tummy

Best Skirt:
The best skirt for a person that has a bit of a tummy or maybe a lot of tummy is an angled or handkerchief skirt. The angle or handkerchief skirt not only shows off the legs, most are made with a dark waistband that slims the midsection.

Problem:
Petite and Curvy

Best Skirt:
The best skirt for a person that's petite and curvy  is a wrap skirt. The wrap skirt helps play up the major curves and the cinched skirt nips in at the waist to create a more slim illusion. A structured A-line dress also works for this body type as it gives a little more length the the petite frame.

Problem:
Boyish

Best Skirt:
Pleats, pleats and more pleats are a boyish frame's best friend. The pleats give the illusion of curves. Ruching gives an oooohhhh-la-la appeal. Bright minis are uber playful for someone with this type frame as it gives a more feminine touch.

Problem:
Plus Size

Best Skirt:
Tiered ruffles that start about mid-thigh work wonders on a plus sized gal. Fitted pencil skirts look AMAZING and flowy styles give much needed breathing room.

Problem:
Tall

Best Skirt:
Knee to mid-calf balance long legs. If you're a taller gal and you're going to wear a mid-calf length skirt, make sure your top is just a tad more fitted. The fitted top keeps the outfit proportionate.

You're Still The ONE...ALL Hail Queen Bey...

Okay lovies, y'all know I LOVE me some Beyonce...She's from my home state, TEXAS (the best place on earth, by the way)...she jumped her career off by occasional performances on the steps and stages of MY university, TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY (the BEST university in the whole wide world) and she absolutely, positively FABULOUS!

Sooo in true crazed Beyonce fan fashion I was ecstatic when her latest single, Countdown, video debuted on BET. Since I don't have cable ( I am on a cable fast because I was watching too much junk...think Basketball Wives, Housewives of whatever the most current city they're filming, and a bunch of other stuff) I had to catch the video on YouTube and as always I was so happy. Something about that Texas girl just makes me so proud and feel like I can take on the world. So needless to say I was instantly inspired by the many looks she took on in the video...absolute FAVE was the mod, Twiggy inspired look. Loved it so much I watched a couple YouTube videos on how to remake the look (thanks for a great tutorial BeatFaceHoney) and then tried it myself. I have yet to make a YouTube video, but I jotted down the steps I took to recreate the look and here they are for you to try.

I'm going to be teaching this look to my students tonight, I hope they're up for the challenge. I plan on posting my pics and theirs in the coming weeks. If you try this look out, shoot me an email or a FB message and let me see your work. You too could be featured on the blog.

See ya at the TOP, lovies!

Ciao!
xoxo

Countdown Recreation:

First things first, define your brow. In the video Beyonce doesn't have a really heavy harsh brow, but it's definitely DEFINED. To define your brow you can use an eyebrow pencil or you may use brow powder, an angled brush and concealer.

After you've defined your brow, you want to prep your lid with an eyeshadow primer. If you don't have an eyeshadow primer you may use a neutral colored concealer. The use of eyeshadow primer or concealer gives the eyeshadow a good base. A good base will allow your eyeshadow to do 2 things: 1. It allows the color to actually stick to the lid and 2. When the color sticks it POPS! Poppin eyeshadow is ESSENTIAL when creating this look.

Next, take your eyeshadow brush and put it into the shadow color of your choice. You can use any color you like, but since we're trying to recreate The Queen's look we're going to use a yellow color. When you're applying the shadow you want to use a 'patting' stroke. Patting the color onto your lid will allow a more even and intense distribution of color. Tip: Remember, you only want to distribute the color on the lower part of your lid, right below the crease.

Once you've patted on the yellow color, take a different brush and distribute a neutral color from the crease of your eyelid to the upper brow area. Make sure this neutral color is blended softly. The use of the neutral color just above the crease reduces the likelihood of harsh color lines.

Now here comes the hard part. Take a black eyeliner and draw a line across the crease of your eye.
Tip: Take a small angled brush and dip it into black eyeliner to soften the line that was drawn with the black eyeliner.

The line on the crease must be drawn from the inner part of the eye to the outer part of the eye. When you get to the outer part of the eye you want to extend the line to create a more cat eye look.
Tip: Keep the line on the crease relatively thin on the inner part and let it become thicker as you extend to the outer eye.

Creating the cat eye, winged look with dark liner can really close the eyes off if you're not careful. To prevent complete closing of the eye, take a light colored eyeliner (white or neutral color) and line the waterline of the eye to open up the eyes.
Now that you've opened up the eyes with the light color in the waterline you need to fill in the empty wing space with a white eyeliner. You can use either liquid or pencil. I liked using a liquid liner because it gave a more sharp look, but really, the choice is yours.

After you draw in the white line on the outer part of the eyes, take some time to blend in the spots that you may have missed. Once the re-blend is complete finish your look with mascara or if you're in a daring mood add some lashes and call it good.

The final step in re-creating this look is your lips. The lips are an easy fix...take a neutral colored pink, put it on the lips and you're good to go!

Enjoy!

GO ON, BEY!

I Can Use A Q-Tip To Do WHAT?!!!!

Hello Lovies!

LBH (text/Facebook speak for Let's Be Honest...I'm learning all these fancy new abbreviations from my nephews, Stephen and Grayson...those kids are a trip and I love em to death...check out their cute pics at the bottom of the blog...good looks run all through this fam...#familybraggingmoment), EVERYONE has or should have a box of q-tips. If you're like me, you've had the same box of q-tips for FOREVER (I've had my q-tips for about four years...I bought them when I moved to Kansas and I still haven't used them all) and you probably think you'll NEVER be able to get rid of that old @$$ box.

Well as usual, I'm here to save the day and give you some ways you can use your q-tips and FINALLY get rid of that box. So here we go, in no particular order:

1. You can use a q-tip to de-smudge make-up.

2. You can use a q-tip to smudge your make-up.

3. You can use a q-tip to create a cat eye. Simply draw a line on your upper lid, then use the q-tip to strech the eyeliner up and out.

4. You can use a q-tip to tame heavy liner. Simply, dampen the q-tip or if you don't really care, you can go grandma style and use a lil bit of saliva (I don't recommend using the saliva technique on others...might cause a lil disturbance) and gently swab the areas where the liner may be too heavy.

5. You can use a q-tip to clean mascara flubs.

6. You can use a q-tip to apply concealer when attempting to hide zits.

7. You can use a q-tip to dig out the last of your products.

8. You can use a q-tip for its most common purpose...CLEAN OUT YOUR EARS...DUH?!

So there you have it, lovies...8 ways you can use a q-tip and finally trash that box. Try the tips out and if you come up with some more unconventional uses for q-tips, let me know I'd love to share with the rest of the follower. You can hit me up on FB @ www.facebook.com/pblb08 or via Twitter @PBLB08 or via email at boujebeauty@gmail.com.

I look forward to hearing from you all and as always, See ya at the TOP!
